01 What's an Anthropic API key and why do I need one?
Anthropic makes Claude - the AI that generates the animations. You create a free account at console.anthropic.com, add a payment method, and get an API key. Motion Studio uses your key to make generations on your behalf. The plugin includes a step-by-step tutorial to get this set up in 2 minutes.
02 Why bring-your-own-key instead of including credits?
Two reasons: (1) you pay Anthropic directly at their wholesale rate - no markup from me. (2) You control your usage. No monthly subscriptions, no surprise overage fees. Generate 10 animations or 10,000 - your choice.
03 How much do generations cost?
Around $0.13-$0.23 per generation depending on complexity. A typical creator workflow runs $5-15/month. You can set hard spending limits in your Anthropic account so you never go over budget.
04 Will this work on my older AE?
Requires AE 2022 or newer. Older versions don't support the necessary CEP extensions.
05 Can I use generated animations commercially?
Yes. Generations belong to you. Use them in client work, YouTube videos, anything.
